Although it is an extremely scarce issue, the 1879-80 N.Y. Clipper Woodcut picturing Mike "King" Kelly marks his earliest individual appearance on a baseball collectible. The first traditional baseball card picturing Kelly originates from the ever popular 1887-90 Old Judge tobacco set. Additionally, another early card of Kelly was produced in 1887 by the Buchner Gold Coin Company. Another tobacco set which also included a card of Kelly during the 1887 season was the Gypsy Queen issue. Finally, an extremely rare card depicting Kelly was included as part of the Four Base Hits set.
