| The first mainstream baseball card set to include Eddie Mathews was the 1952 Topps high-number series issue. Although it is an extremely tough set to locate, the 1950-56 J.J.K. Copyart Photographers set also includes an early image of Mathews. Subsequently, another early, mainstream card of Mathews appears within the 1953 Topps set as well. In addition, a card depicting Mathews was included in the regionally issued 1953 Spic & Span Braves series. Finally, a popular 1953 Johnston Cookies Braves card of Mathews also exists. |
